Blinders Off

What we Do?

The problem with the current state of legal education in India is the fact that it is not only restricted to students opting to study a certain set of subjects (that too at the college level), but also that legal awareness concepts at the school level are also taught using pedagogy that is extremely theoretical and dare we say, outdated; we believe that solely teaching the definitions of law and order, the date on which we mark the legal literacy day, and related concepts is of no long-term use. Sermonising children through lectures that speak at them, and not to them, are expectedly ineffective.

1. Creating a New Generation of Law Abiding Citizens

As an organisation specialising in disseminating legal education to the young minds of the nation, we collaborate with the police forces, schools as well as other organisations to design practical, interactive and engaging legal literacy material for school students from grades 6th to 9th.

We design and deliver legal awareness programmes covering various legal awareness topics centering around the basics of law and order in the country and civic sense.

2. The Youth of Today: Reformed, Restored and Reimagined!

‘Good-for-Nothing’, ‘Delinquents’, ‘Wasted Lives’…these are the words, as one would often observe, are used to refer to the promising youth of this country who might have been tormented by the blemish of being led astray by people, factors or unfortunate circumstances, which would have led them to be cruelly and rather hopelessly grouped into the category of those considered to be the victims of juvenile delinquency; these two words that resign suffering victims to a predicted future of sadness, despair and disappointment.

Blinders Off does one thing differently: it strives to create hope, and it is from this stream of hope that all our efforts flow!

We at Blinders Off aim at creating new and promising futures: when we talk about taking the ‘blinders off’ the eyes of the youth, we also talk about a section of this youth that has unfortunately been forced to wear blinders telling them that they had now reached a point of no return; their shine, their potential had thus been blocked out.

Reform

The youth led off the right track by aiding in their rehabilitation from substance abuse and other delinquent behaviour.

Restore

the future of these youths by giving them back their faith in their own lives. This is done through aiding them in skill development in their areas of interest, providing them with career counselling and increasing their employability through in-depth skill assessments, an analysis of their individual strengths and weaknesses (done by professionally trained counsellors), all towards an effort to bring down the recidivism rates of juvenile offenders.

Reimagining

the youth in today’s society, which is full of hope, optimism and ambitions instead of negativity and cynicism.

3. Supporting the Police Force

The Police Force is in many ways the backbone of any nation. They protect, uphold, and oversee the law and order in the country, ensuring that peace and harmony is always maintained, come what may!

We at Blinders Off hence believe that as the citizens of the great nation of India, it is also our duty to guarantee that the ones that support our nation and ensure its smooth functioning, are supported too! We assure that they are in thriving, supportive and well-provided conditions always, so that they can make sure India thrives!

Our programs aspire to do this through various initiatives, such as supplying police stations with shoe polish machines and other facilities to improve the infrastructure of these stations and the working conditions there, ensuring they have access to clean and drinking water through providing fully-functioning water filters when needed, among many other things!
